Thread Lifts
Thread Lifts
Thread lifts are a new, minimally invasive type of facelift that is a safe alternative to the more invasive surgical face-lift yet producing similar results.
Threads
Aptos threads were the first thread lift product made. They were made from fine non-absorbable suture material, which has been used safely for many years in different types of surgical operations. The uniqueness of the Aptos thread was the bi-directional cog like design which enabled the thread continuously to support and lift the skin and underlying soft tissue of the face and neck. The new Silhouette Suture utilizes a clear, flexible, absorbable series of knots and cones instead of cogs to support and lift the skin. Once the cones are completely absorbed, tissue growth around the small knots will continue to lift and suspend sagging skin. The threads are introduced into the face from insertion points around the hairline. The new Silhouette Threadlift procedure corrects sagging facial structures by adding support to the skin and underlying tissue, while also enabling the skin to be subtly repositioned with a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
Candidates
The Silhouette Threadlift procedure is ideally suited for patients ages 30 - 60 whose skin tone has become lax with time or sun damage; however, patients are assessed individually for their suitability. The subtle effects of the new Silhouette Threadlift are that they...
- Lift sagging eyebrows
- Adjust asymmetric brows
- Reposition sagging cheeks and jowls
- Lift drooping soft tissues of the mid and lower face
- Tighten premature skin aging
- Reposition loose and wrinkled neck skin
The Procedure
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The way in which the threads are placed elevates individual patient's facial structures. Once the threads have been positioned, they are gently tightened and secured to facial tissue and skin. The procedure takes approximately an hour depending on the number of areas being treated and the number of threads used. There is no need for any bulky dressing to the face and soft tissue swelling heals within a few days.
For the first few weeks care must be taken to treat the skin and underlying facial tissue gently especially when applying or removing make-up. Excessive facial movements during the first few weeks should be minimized to ensure the threads are maintained in their original position.
The results of the Threadlift can last for years. However, over time the threads may loosen and the face may again show signs of aging requiring additional treatments.
