ArteFill®

What is ArteFill®
ArteFill® is a dual-acting injectable soft tissue filler. The secret of its success is in its patented formula, which contains 20% ArteFill® Precision-Filtered Microspheres™ (made of PMMA) and 80% ArteFill® Purified Bovine Collagen™ gel with an anesthetic, lidocaine. PMMA is the same material used in dozens of medical implants and devices over the last 50 years. First, ArteFill® visibly corrects the wrinkle. Then as the Bovine Collagen™ begins to disappear the microspheres provide the permanent support your skin needs to correct the wrinkle and prevent further wrinkling. Where the results of temporary fillers end, the enduring benefits of ArteFill® continue.

Why ArteFill®?
ArteFill® is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable permanent soft tissue filler for the correction of wrinkles and smile lines that provides immediate, visible results with no down time. ArteFill® is simple to inject in the office, has an excellent safety profile and the results improve over the course of several months and stand the test of time. A typical correction usually requires only 1 or 2 treatments. The new personalized ArteFill® Progressive Enhancement™ (gradual wrinkle correction) technique helps ensure the look you desire.

Safety
The FDA has approved ArteFill® for the safe and effective correction of smile lines

An ArteFill® Skin Test is a safety precaution to make sure that you are not allergic to the bovine collagen or the anesthetic in ArteFill® . Some people should not receive ArteFill® , including those who have a positive reaction to the ArteFill® collagen skin test, have a history of severe allergies and anaphylaxis, have a known susceptibility to keloid (thick scar) formation and/or scar hypertrophy (excessive scarring), are allergic to lidocaine, are undergoing or planning to undergo desensitization injections to meat products, or are currently on corticosteroids or immunosuppressive therapy.

Patients with any skin outbreaks (eg, cysts, pimples, rashes, hives, infection) near the planned injection sites should postpone treatment until they clear. The most common complications associated with ArteFill® injections are lumpiness, persistent swelling or redness, and increased sensitivity at the injection site.
