Removal of Spider Veins with the Laser

Spider veins are areas of overgrown or enlarged blood vessels. These vary in color from red to purple and range in size. Seen as visible veins, red blotches or port wine stains, they are quite common and can be either congenital or acquired through overexposure to the sun, or as a result of oral contraceptives and hormone therapy, or the aging process. Many people feel these lesions detract from their appearance.

Since treatment with the IPL or V-BeamTM or Gentle YAG Laser is comfortable, safe, and effective, there is simply no reason to live with any of these problems. We use all or a combination of these lasers and light sources to relieve our patients of their life long vascular problems.

Does the Laser Treatment Hurt?
The IPL, V-BeamTM and Gentle YAG Laser are known as the “gentler lasers”. Patients might feel a sensation similar to a hot pinprick for only a fraction of a second. It is so gentle that local anesthesia is rarely, if ever, necessary.

How Does the IPL, V-BeamTM and Gentle YAG Laser Work?
IPL, V-BeamTM and Gentle YAG are a revolutionary technology that treats vessels with a series of laser light pulses. These pulses are absorbed into blood cells, causing the blood to heat and coagulate. This leaves the blood vessel walls unsupported, causing them to collapse. Then, during the healing process, these vessels dissolve within the body. With the vessels gone, the treated area returns to the natural color of your skin.

How is a IPL, V-BeamTM and Gentle YAG Laser Treatment Done?
The time of the procedure varies depending upon the type of lesions being treated, but in all cases treatment takes 30 minutes or less.Treatment consists of placing a small handpiece against the surface of the skin and activating the laser.Because of the brightness of the laser light, you will be asked to wear some form of eye protection.

The IPL, V-BeamTM and Gentle YAG Laser virtually eliminates bruising by gently collapsing blood vessels without causing rupture or hemorrhage.

What Should I Expect After Laser Treatment?
You will experience a slight redness or even a purple discoloration in the treated area which will go away within a few hours to a few days. Side effects are uncommon and usually minimal. You will be given complete instructions for skin care after the treatment. It is recommended that sunscreens be used, so as to avoid getting similar lesions in the future.

Consultation and Cost?
Before an IPL, V-BeamTM and Gentle YAG Laser procedure is performed, a thorough consultation is necessary to determine the nature of the condition to be treated. Then a treatment plan will be designed for you, any questions you may have will be answered, and the expected results will be discussed with you. The cost of the treatment may not be covered by medical insurance, and the fee that you will be charged is based on the complexity of the procedure and the number of pulses used.
