What is a Contour ThreadLiftTM?”
Contour ThreadsTM are sutures made from polypropylene material
that has been in use for decades to stitch surgical wounds. These suture threads have tiny,
barb-like helical cogs similar to the Aptos® threads and when inserted under the skin, open in
an umbrella-like fashion that gently lifts sagging tissues of the brow, neck and face. This
technique allows the physician to achieve a refreshed appearance while enhancing the natural
contours of the face. The difference between the FeatherLiftTM
and the Contour ThreadLiftTM is that the Contour ThreadsTM need to be sewn inplace, whereas the FeatherLiftTM
threads do not and are just suspended in the soft tissue without
being sewn in place.
Who is a Candidate for a Contour ThreadLiftTM?
The best candidates are women and men who are 30 to 60 years of age who have lax skin which
causes wrinkling in the center of their faces.
What areas can be treated with a Contour ThreadLiftTM?
In properly selected patients the ThreadLiftTM can be used to:
- Reposition sagging cheeks
- Lift drooping soft tissue of the lower and mid face and neck
- Adjust asymmetric eyebrows
- Smooth out premature skin aging
Is the procedure safe?
The procedure is a simple procedure and is very safe. Postoperative recovery is a little longer
than with the FeatherLiftTM, because there is a little more
surgery and cutting involved. Your doctor will explain the particulars. Complications and risks
are uncommon and the procedure is entirely reversible under local anesthesia.
